Case Study
FedEx 3PL Integration with Netsuite
About Waiākea
Waiākea® was founded in Hilo, Hawai’i in 2012 as the first Hawaiian volcanic water and triple bottom line premium water of its kind, adapting an unparalleled platform of healthy, sustainable, and ethical attributes and initiatives.
Netsuite integration and automation has processed over 50,000 shipments to date saving on average 20 hours of month in manual work.
Challenge: FedEx 3PL
To manage their growing eCommerce shipping needs, Waiākea uses FedEx 3PL for their warehouse and logistic services. One of the biggest challenges was that there were no existing integrations with NetSuite. Fulfillments and shipping notifications within NetSuite were completed manually by the Warehouse and Accounting teams which became tedious and burdensome.
Waiākea turned to Devma to build a custom solution that would automate transactions and integrate the fulfillment process with FedEx.
Solution
Devma worked closely with the FedEx IT Development Team to connect FedEx Fulfillment Open Source APIs with Waiākea’s NetSuite Instance.
A link between Waiākea and FedEx was created where Waiākea shipping information was passed through FedEx data translation tables. The translated data would then be routed back into NetSuite via a Custom Record which was then used inNetSuite to automatically create an Item Fulfillment.
Instead of manually processing each order in NetSuite, the automation is able to process orders and automatically create transactions without any user intervention.
Results
54,000+
shipments automatically processed
6,000+
automated shipments per month
40+
transaction processing hours saved per month
Integration
Devma’s technical and development team used Oauth 2.0 authentication to link NetSuite with the FedEx platform. A link between Waiākea and FedEx was generated, where an API call was made to FedEx with a username and password to obtain a token. The token was then used in a secondary API call to FedEx, where the latest shipping information was captured.
Once the information was acquired, the contents of the information were stored in a Custom Record, which was then used to process transactions within NetSuite.
NetSuite’s users were able to make one click to use the stored data in the Custom Record to automatically process item fulfillments while maintaining data history within NetSuite.
Instead of manually processing each order in NetSuite, the automation is able to process orders and automatically create transactions without any user intervention.
